Our Staff

At Eye Physicians, our board-certified physicians and support staff have over 100 years in combined experience in the eye care field. In addition to four outstanding doctors, our staff includes ophthalmic assistants, surgical assistants, RNs, LPNs, and a patient care coordinator. We work together as a team to bring you the very best care in the field of ophthalmology.


Dr. James I. Suit, M.D.

Dr. James I. Suit, M.D.A native of Alabama, Dr. Suit graduated from Auburn University in 1969, and received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1973. After a medical internship at USAF Medical Center at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, Dr. Suit completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta. He spent six years in USAF, and was discharged as a major. Dr. Suit joined the Eye Physicians in 1981. He is a clinical instructor in ophthalmic surgery at Emory University School of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine. Dr. Suit is a board certified ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Bibb County Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. Dr. Suit is experienced in all phases of ophthalmology, including both pediatric and adult eye diseases.

 
William H. Jarrard, Jr., M.D.

Dr. William Jarrad Jr. M.D. Dr. Jarrard graduated from the University of Georgia in 1981 and received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1985. After completing a flexible internship at the Medical Center of Central Georgia and residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 1989, Dr. Jarrard joined the staff of the Eye Physicians where he offers quality eye care in all areas of ophthalmology. Dr. Jarrard is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine, a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and an associate examiner of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Jarrard is a board certified ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Bibb County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Jarrard is a member of numerous community and civic organizations


James Stephen Ellis, M.D.


Dr. Ellis M.D. Dr. Ellis graduated from Emory University in 1983 and received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1987. After completing his internship and residency at the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Ellis practiced with the Marietta Eye Clinic in Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Ellis joined the Eye Physicians in 1993, where he offers his patients an expertise in the latest medical techniques available. Dr. Ellis is a board certified ophthalmologist and is a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Bibb County Medical Association, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Joe L. McLendon, M.D.

Joe L. McLendon, M.D. Dr. McLendon is widely recognized as a leader in eye care in Middle Georgia. As a 1954 graduate of Mercer University, Dr. McLendon served two years in the U.S. Army, and then pursued post-graduate work at Mercer University. Dr. McLendon received his M.D. at the Medical College of Georgia in 1965, and completed internships and residencies at Macon Hospital and the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. McLendon joined the staff of Eye Physicians in 1969, where he consistently treated patients with professional eye care until 1981 when he began a solo practice of ophthalmology in Macon. Dr. McLendon returned to the Eye Physicians in 2000 and has continued to offer his patients the very best in ophthalmologic care. He is a member of the Bibb County Medical Society, Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, Medical Association of Georgia, and a lifetime member of the American Medical Association.

Debbie Haddock, office administrator

Debbie Haddock, office administrator Debbie is trained as a registered nurse and has served the patients and staff of Eye Physicians for 29 years. Debbie worked as an ophthalmic assistant and an RN before taking on the role of office administrator.
